Welcome

At Houchin Elementary School, the staff and students are committed to doing things "The Houchin Way."

Our creed is: As Houchin Bulldogs, we will remember to be safe in our space, respectful of others, and responsible for ourselves and our surroundings.  The staff believes in the power of positive praise.  Through the implementation of multi-tiered systems of support, it is our goal to help every student become contributing members of our school family and society.

Our students thrive because our staff work hard to provide opportunities for academic success through Response To Intervention.  RTI is an integral part of academic instruction at Houchin.  Our teachers assess, use data to make informed decisions about instruction and re-assess for growth.  We use the STAR testing system for benchmarking.

Houchin was founded in 1972 and is home to approximately 600 students, Pre-K through 6th grade.  Our curriculum is based on state and national standards and our teachers follow pacing guides set forth by the school district.  Our students move up to Highland West and Moore West Junior High Schools upon completion of sixth grade.

Activities include:

*Student Council

*SchoolChoir/District Honor Choir

*Safety Patrol
