Assistant Principal s Message

Assistant Principal Mrs. Talbert

Hello Bulldogs!

Welcome to Houchin! My name is Amy Talbert and I am thrilled to be joining the Houchin Staff this year. I have been in Moore for the last 12 years as a Reading Specialist and now as an Assistant Principal. I hope your summer was filled with rest, joy, and wonderful memories. As your Assistant Principal, I’m excited to begin another year of learning, growth, and community together.

Here at Houchin, our mission is to create a safe, welcoming environment where every child feels valued, respected, and empowered to reach their highest potential. This year, our focus will be on fostering leadership in our students through the 7 Habits, tapping into each student's unique genius, and equipping them to lead themselves for the future.

Throughout the year, you’ll see us working as a team—teachers, staff, families, and students—to make our school a place where kindness, perseverance, and a love of learning thrive. We know that when we partner with families, our students achieve their very best.

I look forward to greeting you at drop-off, cheering for our students at events, and celebrating their successes—big and small. Thank you for sharing your children with us. Together, we are going to make this a fantastic year!

Warmly,
Amy Talbert

Mr Wood

My name is Blake Wood, and I am so excited to introduce myself as the second Assistant Principal at Houchin Elementary for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year!

This is my third year serving as an Assistant Principal, and prior to that, I spent 11 years teaching 5th grade math. Throughout my career, I have developed a deep love for education and a strong belief in the power of school-family partnerships to help every child grow academically, socially, and as a leader.

I am honored to join the Bulldog family and look forward to getting to know our amazing students, families, and community members. At Houchin, we are committed to developing student leaders through the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and I believe these habits help students build responsibility, confidence, and ownership of their learning. By encouraging students to be proactive, work together, and strive for their personal best, we help create a positive and supportive school culture.

I am passionate about fostering a welcoming environment where every student feels seen, valued, and empowered to succeed, and I look forward to partnering with families as we support students in growing both academically and as leaders.

Thank you for welcoming me into this incredible community. I am excited for a fantastic school year ahead and look forward to all we will accomplish together at Houchin Elementary! Go Bulldogs!

Thank you,
Blake Wood
